Time Out of Joint workshops

Thank you for your interest in Time Out of Joint. We would love to present grant-funded workshops to you and your students. Our approach includes using paired texts — a Shakespeare scene matched with a ‘Prison Monologue” - an original writing by one of our team members. The two have similar themes and spark powerful conversations with students about writing, history, the power of education and more.

The workshops are led by compassionate people who became educated in prison and are experts at inspiring students to think about writing and believing in themselves. We always leave room for you, the classroom teacher, to participate and help guide the conversations to fit your subject matter, readings and more.

We also use primary sources from the Library of Congress website - www.LOC.gov. - like the image to the right which allows students to think about the prison experience and then write about it.
